Welcome to Spirit of Life Ministries
Meet our new pastor!
Hello! I have recently come to serve Spirit of Life Lutheran Ministries and the surrounding community. I come with 14 years of experience as a parish pastor and was a hospital chaplain before that. This first year at Spirit of Life is one where I learn most from the people and community I now serve. I am most excited to join in serving at Lifecare Community Services Food Bank, in partnership with Living Stones Prison Ministry, sharing stories of faith with the children from Little Doves, and contributing to the good work being done at Project Share. I look forward to meeting you.
A little about me: My family recently relocated from Portland, Oregon, when my husband took a job at Seattle International Film Festival. We moved to Tacoma, where we are settling in. Our 8 year old son, Sterling, is in 2nd grade at Blix Elementary in Tacoma in the Spanish-immersion program. I enjoy gardening, knitting, hiking, and reading. I have a passion for social justice and equality. I have a vision that drives me in my ministry, in which neighbors know each other and share what they have, we all care for this beautiful land, and we live simply in gratefulness and hope.
Give me a call or stop by my office. I am often in Monday-Thursday, 9-4. I am interested to find out what you love about this place and how we can be community together!

Spirit of Life is a Welcoming, Renewing and Serving Intergenerational Community in Christ.
We are a community of faith, trusting in God, rooting ourselves in the sacramental understanding of God's grace, responding to community needs, devoting ourselves to prayer, Bible study and fellowship, welcoming all as Christ welcomes and witnessing to God doing new things in the community and in our lives. Together, we profess our belief in the risen Christ, and trust in the Lutheran understanding that we are all saved by God's grace through faith. Spirit of Life is friendly & welcoming to all.
God's Work. Our Hands.
We are a welcoming, renewing and serving intergenerational community of discipleship in Christ, joyfully carrying out the mission of God in the world.
We are a publicly engaged church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work. We do God's work in the world — the work of restoring and reconciling people and communities. We pursue justice and seek peace no matter how long the journey or wide the chasm. Because we are grounded in God's love and forgiveness, we are well equipped to live and serve here and now, in the world, with all its complexities, tensions and ambiguities.
There is no aspect of life in which God is not active, no place where God is not present. And this is exactly where we are called to participate in God's work, God's mission, in the thick of life, embracing individuals, families and communities that are hungry for hope and healing, justice and peace, advocates and partners.
